Where I Learned This
I did not learn bookkeeping in a classroom or a cubicle. I learned it doing the books for my family’s businesses — three of them, all completely different, for more than ten years.
A concrete construction company
Job costing, subcontractors, materials, and payroll that changes every single week. Construction is where you learn that a profitable-looking month can be a losing one once the job costs land, and that a missed 1099 in January is a problem you created in June.
A daycare
Tuition billing, staff payroll, and the kind of record-keeping where being close is not good enough. Daycares run on thin margins with real compliance behind them, so the books have to be right and they have to be current.
A concession stand
Cash-heavy, seasonal, and inventory that walks. Nothing teaches you reconciliation like a business where the money arrives in a cash box and the season is over before you can fix a bad habit.
For all three I did the bookkeeping, the administrative work, and the payroll. Not one slice of it — the whole thing, start to finish, with my own family’s money on the line.
That is a different education from a firm where you handle one type of client. Three businesses that had nothing in common taught me the part that actually matters: the fundamentals are the same everywhere, and the industry only changes where the mess tends to hide.
Why I Went Out on My Own
I started BDE Bookkeeping Solutions in February 2026 because I wanted to build something of my own — and because I already knew exactly who I wanted to build it for.
Small business owners do not usually have a bookkeeping problem. They have a time problem, and the books are what loses. The work gets pushed to a weekend, then to a quarter-end, then to whenever the accountant starts asking. By the time anyone looks properly, nobody remembers what a charge from eight months ago was for, and the owner has been making decisions all year on numbers that were never right.
I have watched that happen from the inside. I would rather catch it early for somebody than clean it up late.
How I Work
You work with me, not a team
I do the work myself. You will never be handed off to someone you have never spoken to, and you will never have to re-explain your business to a new person.
No judgment about the state of your books
Behind, messy, or never started is the normal way people arrive. It is not a character flaw and I am not going to make you feel bad about it. It is just work that needs doing.
Plain English, always
If I hand you a report you cannot read, I have not done my job. You should be able to look at your numbers and know what they mean without calling anyone.
Everything online
Secure file sharing, video meetings over Google Meet, and screen shares. You never have to drive anywhere or fit a visit around your day.
Honest about fit
If what you need is not something I should be doing, I will tell you that in the free review rather than take the work.

How long have you been doing bookkeeping?
Over ten years. Most of that was handling the bookkeeping, administrative work and payroll for my family’s businesses — a concrete construction company, a daycare and a concession stand. I started BDE Bookkeeping Solutions as my own practice in February 2026.
What are your qualifications?
I hold an MBA, and I am both a QuickBooks Online Certified ProAdvisor and Gusto Payroll Certified. The certifications matter because they mean I know the software your books actually live in, rather than learning it on your file.
Do you actually do the work, or do you hand it off?
I do it myself. BDE is owner-led, which means the person you talk to on the first call is the person reconciling your accounts every month. There is no team behind me and no offshore back office.
Will you judge me for how bad my books are?
No. Most people who call me are behind, and the ones who are furthest behind are usually the most embarrassed about it. Being behind means you were busy running a business. It is a normal starting point and it is fixable.
Can we meet in person?
BDE is an online-only practice, so there is no walk-in office and no in-person meetings. Everything happens over video meetings on Google Meet, phone calls, screen sharing and secure file sharing — which in practice is faster for you than driving somewhere.
What does it cost to work with you?
